Celebrating great achievements for a community in need as Time Machine Film Works and the Nyack International Film Festival present, “TOUCH: Together Our Unity Can Heal”

On Monday, August 15, 2022 @ 8:00PM, the Nyack International Film Festival (NIFF) will screen the Time Machine Film Works (TMFW) short documentary, “TOUCH: Together Our Unity Can Heal”, at Hotel Nyack in Nyack, NY.  

For over 30 years, TOUCH has provided nutrition and medical case management services for people affected by AIDs and other chronic illnesses. TOUCH is the lead agency for Rockland Community Against Hunger (RCAH). 

At the start of the pandemic, in 2020, TMFW, a full service production studio based out of Sparkill NY, reached out to leaders at RCAH and offered assistance in the form of creating this film and other digital video content, to help get the word out about the work they do.

A one woman show comes to life with “The Haunted Trumpet”! Captured on video and coming to a performance space near you.

In the spirit of artistic collaboration Time Machine Film Works joined forces with Mac Sound Solutions, The Balance Arts Center, and The Means Whereby to bring musical theatre to the masses with Jill Usdan’s “The Haunted Trumpet”. 

The Means Whereby  produced “The Haunted Trumpet” at The Balance Art Center’s Karl Kemp Performance Space, consisting of all originally composed music by Jill Usdan, with Ridley Walker designing lighting and music/sound cues. Under Jill’s direction, all elements came together to tell a beautiful story of personal growth and transformation. A story of love and acceptance from the most important person in our lives, ourselves. A story that needs to be experienced outside the wall of this singular performance space.

That’s where we came in. Time Machine Film Works assembled a production crew consisting of camera operators Yashar Yaslowitz and Robert Barrett operating 2 Panasonic DVX-200s shooting in 4K, associate producer Suzanne Barrett maintaining clear communication between the crew, talent and location, and sound engineer Lance McVickar of Mac Sound Solutions capturing audio from 2 stereo cardioid mics in the audience, 3 Rode NGT2 shotgun mics from either side and above the stage, and one Sennheiser wireless lavalier microphone hidden on Jill herself. We also had a GoPro Hero 10 capturing in 4K the perspective of The Haunted Trumpet antagonist, itself.

The performance was stellar, and the equipment captured that magic with flawless precision. Then it was off to the Time Machine Film Works postproduction studio and edit suites, where the 3 camera angles were synced up with the 6 audio sources on Adobe Premiere Pro and edited in multi-cam by Robert Barrett. After color balancing was complete, Lance McVickar mixed all the sound element at Mac Sound Solutions, including the original music files, into a tapestry of aural wonderment, bringing the nuances of Jill’s angelic voice to the forefront, sharpening the connection between her performance and the hearts of all who watch.

Food For Over 2 Million Meals Delivered!!! TOUCH and its partners in RCAH reach an important milestone in aiding Rockland County residents in need during the pandemic.

At the beginning of the pandemic, in response to the rise of American food insecurity that followed, Time Machine Film Works rose to the occasion, using our talents and facilities to create a series of videos to educate and fundraise for TOUCH-Together Our Unity Can Heal, a non-profit organization providing nutrition and medical case management services for those living with HIV and other chronic illnesses in the Hudson Valley. With the help of Dominican College (dc.edu) Communication Studies students in TMFW’s Media Makers Internship Program, we produced a series of videos for TOUCH and other members of the Rockland Community Against Hunger (rocklandhunger.org). TMFW announces our “Media Makers Internship Program”

In these tough times we at Time Machine Film Works LLC, have been pivoting our own approach to media making with regard to safety protocols on location shoots, remote editing and conferencing through Zoom, et al.

With this new world of COVID safety in mind, TMFW has redesigned our Media Makers Internship Program to be socially responsible while continuing to give real world experience to the next generation of media makers. The first stage of the internship would be completely remote, assisting with marketing materials, video editing, graphic design, etc. using online conferencing and file sharing platforms.

TMFW introduces the “Virtual Trade Show Booth”

To help energy saving companies and manufacturers like ThermaXX Jackets, with the new trade show landscape, Time Machine Film Works created a “Virtual Trade Show Booth” for an upcoming sustainability expo.  The expo called for each vendor to construct a 7-10 minute video representing their products and services and how property managers could benefit.

The first step was a discovery meeting with the ThermaXX VP of Sales to determine the content.  Once the objectives were established and a basic script written, the shoot location was set and we were off to the races!  To keep the price under typical trade show expenses, we limited the shoot to two locations.  Editing took place the same week and within 5 days the final version was complete.

ThermaXX will use their video for other events, changing up the content as needed.  They also plan to use the material for other sales related strategies on social media, through Salesforce and Pardot, on their website and on LinkedIn.

TMFW helps Sam Leopold’s Welcome Stranger/Golden Rule “Call to Action”

Time Machine Film Works is proud to have been instrumental in building the momentum and energy for the Welcome Stranger/Golden Rule project, welcomestranger.us, a website designed to bring likeminded artists together to join forces and bring attention to the international refugee crisis .

It’s been 2 years since Sam Leopold brought his song “Writing On The Wall” to Time Machine Film Works, collaborating with director Rob Barrett to create the music video that would win the 2018 Nyack Film Festival.

Now, Sam has channelled his passion into welcomestranger.us with a call for artists, from around the world, to submit their artwork inspired by the immigration story, and any artwork that incorporates The Golden Rule in whatever language and cultural/religious origins they choose, in hopes of achieving world peace through a common desire for kindness.
